Waffles are easy to make at home with some basic ingredients you can get at any supermarket. It doesn't require special baking techniques and long waiting time. All you need to do is 5 minutes whisking and a waffle iron/maker. Let's try!

Waffle Iron/ Waffle Maker: you can easily find this in your local market or online shopping site. You can start with a small and cheap one first. It works fine for me when I started with a 12$ Waffle Maker. If you decide to do it more often for your family then go ahead and pick a bigger and higher quality one.

serving for 3 people - about 12 pieces of waffles

  1. 150g (1 cup) all purpose flour

  2. 40g (1/4 cup) corn starch * If you use cake flour, make it 190g (1 1/4 cup) cake flour.

  3. 4g (1 teaspoon) baking powder

  4. 2g (1/2 teaspoon) fine sea salt

  5. 40g (3 tablespoons) granulated sugar

  6. 2 whole eggs

  7. 160g (2/3 cup) whole milk

  8. 30g (3 tablespoons) oil

  9. 100g (1/2 cup) yogurt

  1. Preheat the waffle iron/maker.

  2. In a medium mixing bowl, crack 2 eggs, use a hand whisk to beat the eggs until you see lots of bubbles.

  3. Add salt and sugar in the eggs, continue to whisk for a couple of minutes to combine them together and increase the volume of the mixture.

  4. Mix all the liquids (milk, yogurt, oil) and continue to whisk until smooth.

  5. Sift the flour (all purpose, cornstarch, baking powder) in the mixture and whisk until a batter forms.

  6. Open the waffle iron. Spray with cooking oil. Pour the batter enough to fill up 1/2 - 3/4 of the iron (depending on how big you want your waffles to be). Cook until it is golden brown. It takes about 4 minutes or so. I usually wait until there is less steam coming out of the iron as a sign to open the lid and check.
